I feel like my nappy bag is just like a Mary Poppins bag. Its like magic how much you can fit into one bag!?! But what to pack in your nappy bag? Oh so many things, I like to be prepared for different situations when I’m out. I also double mine as my handbag so I don’t have to carry two bags around with me. I know every mum has different nappy bag essentials, here is a list of mine:
- Nappy bag: Obvious I know, but I just want touch on a few good features of what to look for in a nappy bag. I personally love a nappy backpack! A nappy backpack means you can distribute the weight evenly between both shoulders, be hands free so you can pick up your little one and also comfortably wear a baby carrier at the same time. I’m using the Florence Vegan Leather Nappy Backpack in Tan from Bambino Bagz. This comes with a Matching Padded Change Mat, Universal Pram Clips, Insulated Bottle Holder and a clear clutch purse. I love that it has 7 internal and external pockets to keep all my items organised. Also that it is made from vegan leather: good on the conscience, looks good and is easy to clean!
- Nappies: I usually make sure there is always 3 in the nappy bag (1 is never enough!). We use the Ultra Dry Nappies from Huggies;
- Scented nappy bags: I use these ones: essential to have somewhere to put your soiled nappies;
- Wipes: I really like using this reusable pouch from Huggies, it saves so much space when you don’t have to pack a full pack of wipes with you;
- Sippy Cup/water bottle: We use this munchkin one for Olivia. I have trialled a few and this seems to be her favourite;
- Snacks/food pouches: I always carry some baby crackers and one food pouch with me as an emergency meal incase she’s hungry. I usually bring fresh fruit or other food for Olivia, but always have packaged items in the nappy bag as a back up;
- Bibs and feeding utensil: I bring with me a silicon feeding bib, a muslin bib and also a spoon for meals on the go. I keep this in the clear clutch purse that came with my nappy bag so I can put dirty bibs back in and keep my bag mess free;
- Spare change of clothes/socks/shoes: accidents can and do happen!
- Antibacterial wipes: wherever we go Olivia either wants to put objects in her mouth or wants to lick/touch everything. Antibacterial wipes are great to sanitise high chairs in restaurants and other surfaces Olivia wants to explore. The Milton antibacterial wipes are great as they are specifically designed for baby teethers and toys so you know it is safe for baby touch it after.
- Hand sanitiser: I’m sure everyone just carries hand sanitiser in the world we live in now. But great to have post nappy changes to sanitise your hands
- Sunglasses: We use these Babiators, great when Olivia is facing the sun in the pram. They are still a little big on her, but I am sure she will grow into them soon. Babiators will even replace them for free within the first 12 months if you break or lose them!
- Wooly hat/Sun hat: She is usually wearing one of the two
- Sunscreen: Very key especially in the summer time – I haven’t found one I love yet so hit me up in the comments if you have!
- Muslin Swaddle: These are so handy in many many ways, to use as a blanket in the pram, provide shade while in the pram, use as a picnic blanket, emergency bib and I’m sure many other reasons. My favourite one is this Gardenia Swaddle from Cam and Co;
- Toy/Book: We always need to have toys wherever we go to swap out and keep Olivia entertained in the pram or car. I find a book really great when we eat out as she can play in the high chair.
- Lastly of course your items: wallet, keys, water, sunglasses and headphones – I love listening to audio books on Audible while I am on walks with Olivia
